Brand Protection Mobile Proxies for US Marketplace Checks

Counterfeiters and unauthorized resellers know what an investigator's network looks like. Listings that appear for a shopper on a Verizon phone in Phoenix disappear for a visitor from a corporate office or a cloud IP, and a sponsored ad that infringes a trademark may only be served to mobile users in one metro. Brand protection teams therefore need to look at marketplaces, social ads and standalone storefronts from the same place their customers stand. EliteProx mobile proxies put each investigator on a dedicated US carrier line, so what they see, capture and escalate is the real mobile experience rather than a sanitized version served to suspected monitors.

Seeing what the customer sees

Cloaking works by classifying the visitor. A datacenter ASN, a known monitoring range or a residential-pool IP with a busy history gets the clean page; a carrier IP behind CGNAT gets the offer, because that address is shared by many real shoppers and blocking it would cost sales. Our lines are real AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon SIMs in real devices, so the storefront, the marketplace search results and the ad auction all treat the investigator as one more phone user. That also applies to mobile-app endpoints: marketplace apps and social apps route through the same carrier address, so app-only listings and in-app ads become visible.

The evidence is also more defensible. A screenshot captured from a consumer carrier IP in the relevant metro, with the time zone and locale to match, answers the obvious objection that the infringing content was only ever visible to a bot. Investigators still need to follow the marketplace's terms and their own legal process; a proxy changes the network path only and does not make any collection method lawful that was not already.

Rotating for sweeps, sticky for evidence

Brand protection has two rhythms. Wide sweeps across marketplaces, search results and ad libraries are read-only and benefit from a fresh address per batch, so the rotation link in your EliteProx dashboard fits there: rotate, run the sweep, rotate again. Carrier pools are finite and addresses repeat, which is normal. Evidence capture is the opposite. Once an infringing listing is found, hold the IP sticky, load the listing, the seller profile, the checkout page and any variant pages, and take timestamped captures from a single address so the record is coherent. Test purchases, where your process permits them, should also run sticky from start to delivery confirmation.

Investigators, portfolios and lines

Assign one investigator profile per line rather than sharing a line across the team. Marketplaces and platforms fingerprint the browser and the address together, and a single address that checks fifty different sellers in an hour from three different fingerprints looks like exactly what it is. Group work by brand portfolio, so one line handles the listings, ads and storefronts touching one client's trademarks, and a second line handles the next client. This is a risk-management choice with a cost tradeoff, not a platform rule, and each marketplace's terms on automated access and account use apply regardless.

Metro coverage and regional offers

Infringers target regionally. A counterfeit sneaker ad may run only to Los Angeles, a grey-market electronics storefront may price differently for Texas, and a marketplace's search ranking varies by delivery ZIP. Run the same query from lines in several metros and compare. We offer lines in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Miami, North Carolina and Boston; carrier geolocation resolves to metro or state, which matches how ad platforms and marketplaces target. Set the browser profile's time zone and locale to the line's metro, and where the marketplace asks for a delivery location, enter one in that metro so the results match a local shopper.

When the storefront still hides

If a suspicious page shows a clean version even from a carrier IP, look at the browser rather than the network. A desktop user agent on a mobile line is an inconsistency cloakers key on; use a mobile browser profile or a real phone on the line. Check that the exit IP on an IP-check page matches the dashboard and that the metro is right. Clear cookies from a previous visit that may have tagged the profile, and try the same page from a second metro to see whether the offer is regional.

Captchas that appear mid-sweep usually mean the address has been busy with too many pages in too short a time, so rotate and slow the cadence. Slow page loads at peak hours are 4G congestion; our lines carry 20-45 Mbps on 4G and 50+ Mbps on 5G, so evidence capture with many images may prefer a 5G line. For anything the dashboard cannot explain, EliteProx support looks at the device itself and answers priority tickets first.

Setting up a Brand protection proxy on EliteProx

  1. Provision a line per investigator in the EliteProx dashboard, choosing the metro where the suspected infringement is targeted.
  2. Copy the host, port, username and password for that line.
  3. Configure them in a mobile browser profile or in the Wi-Fi proxy settings of the investigation phone.
  4. Confirm the exit IP and metro on an IP-check page, rotate for sweeps, then hold sticky while capturing evidence.

Brand protection proxy questions

Is it allowed to check marketplaces and ads through a mobile proxy?

Viewing public listings and ads as a shopper is ordinary browsing, and using a carrier IP to do it is not prohibited. Each marketplace's terms on automated access, account creation and test purchases still apply, as do the laws on evidence collection in your jurisdiction. A proxy changes the network path only; it does not make any method lawful.

Rotating or sticky for brand protection work?

Both, at different stages. Rotate between batches during wide sweeps of search results, ad libraries and marketplace categories. Switch to sticky the moment you find something worth documenting, and keep the same address through the listing, seller profile, checkout and any test purchase so the evidence trail comes from one coherent visitor.

How many investigators or brands per line?

One investigator profile per line, and one brand portfolio per line where budget allows. Several fingerprints on one address checking many sellers quickly is a pattern marketplaces recognize. Splitting by portfolio also keeps evidence tidy for each client. This is risk management with a cost tradeoff, not a rule, and marketplace terms apply either way.

Can I run checks from a real phone?

Yes, and for app-only listings and in-app ads it is the right approach. Enter the proxy in the phone's Wi-Fi settings, confirm the exit IP in a browser, then open the marketplace or social app. The app traffic exits through the carrier line, and captures from the phone show exactly what a mobile customer sees.

Do you have US IPs in the metros where infringers target?

We have lines in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Miami, North Carolina and Boston on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Geolocation is approximate to metro or state, which is how ad platforms and marketplaces target anyway. Run the same query from several metros to catch regional offers; the locations page lists current availability.

Will the proxy slow down evidence capture?

Page loads and screenshots are comfortable at 20-45 Mbps on 4G. Image-heavy listing pages and video ads may load slower at peak hours because the line shares a tower with real subscribers. A 5G line at 50+ Mbps or an off-peak schedule handles that, and unlimited data means long sweeps never run into a cap.
